Etiquette

  • No means no!
  • Don't be pushy. See rule # 1 (No means no!)
  • Know your limits. Discuss them with your partner before hand. You don't need to have a fight in the middle of the dance floor.
  • Always treat your partner with respect.
  • Dress respectfully. Adhere to any dress codes. Participate in dress themes whenever possible.
  • Cleanliness is next to godliness. Be attentive to your personal hygiene. If you smoke, be considerate and have some Clorets with you.
  • Think positive and act with a positive attitude. Nobody likes a downer.
  • Ensure your partner is fully aware of what you are getting into. This goes back the the "respect" thing. Don't show up at the club and and then "spring" it on your partner. Surprise! We're swinging! No. Don't do this.
  • Don't take a "ticket" to a swing party. A ticket is someone with no intention of swinging, only there to get you into the party.
  • Don't have a double standard. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you let him hard swing, he should let you as well. If she only feels comfortable with soft swing, you should only soft swing as well.
  • Don't be rude, crude, or crass.
  • Don't use illicit drugs at a swing party. Don't involve others in your illegal activities.
  • Don't drink excessively. Nobody likes a lousy drunk.
  • Let your party hosts aware of any problems immediately.
  • If you like the party, stay. If you don't like the party, leave. Don't bring others down because it isn't a right fit for you.
